The first Hummer was designed to be a street legal interpretation of the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, or Humvee, that is commonly used by the military. As the H1 Hummer has evolved into the H2 and then the H3, they have become progressively smaller, and closer to a practical size for surface street activity. Many aspects of the H3’s body are similar to that of the Chevy Colorado. They also share the same inline 5 engine. While Hummers have grown away from the initial daunting size of the H1, they are still well-crafted and extremely durable off road vehicles.
