GM Daewoo Auto & Technology was originally established in South Korea in 1937. However, it wasn’t until the late 1990s that Daewoo vehicles gained prominence in the United States. Popular Daewoo models include the sub-compact Lanos, the compact Nubira, and the mid-sized Leganza. In late 2002 Daewoo debuted the sub-compact Kalos, and then a new version of the Nubira sedan arrived in some markets in 2003. In 2004, a 5-door hatchback version of the Nubira was released called the Lacetti. Starting in 2005, GM started branding Daewoos as Chevrolets in most markets.
