Alfa Romeo Automobiles was founded in Italy in 1910, and has since 1986 been part of the Fiat group. The original name of the company was A.L.F.A., which stood for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili. Soon after Alfa Romeo debuted, it quickly earned a reputation for building cars with powerful engines that were often used for motor racing. Today, Alfa Romero is owned by the Fiat group, and plans are underway to develop a luxury and sports division from Alfa Romeo and Maserati. You might recognize the Alfa Romeo 6C from the film “the Godfather”, when it was driven around Sicily by Michael Corleone (played by Al Pacino).
